Privacy Policy
Effective February 13, 2026 · hags.dev
Overview
This privacy policy describes how hags.dev handles information when you visit the site, sign in with Google, or interact with the den, presence wall, and any related experiences. The policy came into effect on February 13, 2026.
Because hags.dev is built on Firebase, we rely on Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Realtime Database, and other Google services to keep your data scoped to your account. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes.
Information we collect
We gather information that helps us deliver the personalized den and Dancefloor experience:
- Account data such as name, email, and profile photo that Google provides during sign-in.
- Preference data you save in the den (den name, companion pet, colors, music toggles) stored in Firestore under your user document.
- Presence updates streamed via the Realtime Database so the Dancefloor wall stays synchronized.
- Usage metrics (page visits, button clicks) captured anonymously to understand how the experience is used.
- Device and network details (browser, OS, IP address) that Firebase and Next.js log for diagnostics.
How we use your data
The site uses data to authenticate you, render your den with cached preferences, keep presence data fresh, and troubleshoot bugs. We also use anonymized analytics to prioritize new features and ensure the experience is stable across browsers.
Any communication you initiate via support links or forms is stored to maintain a record of the request and reply.
Sharing and disclosure
We do not share personal data with advertisers. Data may be shared with infrastructure providers such as Google when necessary to operate Firebase services. We may also disclose information if required by law, to prevent fraud, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of hags.dev and its community.
If you choose to export data (e.g., copy preference records), that information travels through tools you control.
Cookies and similar technologies
Next.js and Firebase use cookies (like the secure `__session` token) to keep you signed in and Top-level navigation uses standard browser storage to remember things like the last primary color you chose.
You can clear cookies, block trackers, or revoke consent at any time through your browser settings, but doing so may require you to sign in again.
Your rights and choices
You can update your Google account profile at any time. The den exposes controls for editing preferences and toggling audio settings.
To request a deletion of your Firestore profile document or to object to specific uses of your data, email privacy@hags.dev or use the support link inside the den. We will honor lawful requests within a reasonable timeframe.
Security and retention
Firebase enforces encryption in transit and at rest. Access to Firestore documents is restricted by rules that match each document to the authenticated user. We retain preference data only as long as you keep the account and may purge inactive records after a reasonable dormancy period.
NOTE: This site is a personal playground and not intended for high-risk data. Please avoid posting sensitive information through the den.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When material changes occur, we will post the new effective date here and, when feasible, notify you through the den or the email associated with your Google account.
Contact us via privacy@hags.dev if you have questions about this policy or how we handle your data.
